Motivational Interviewing (MI) is more than a communication technique—it's a powerful, evidence-based approach to inspiring real, lasting change. Whether you're a peer, healthcare provider, family support worker, front desk staff or supervisor, this series will give you tools to strengthen relationships and encourage meaningful growth with caregivers and your staff.

Cost: FREE for any providers located in New York State

Description: Introductory training will provide a foundational understanding of MI - a person-centered, evidence-based approach designed to enhance motivation and commitment to change.​ In this workshop participants will​:

  • Explore the foundational principles of MI, including collaboration and autonomy
  • Gain an introduction to core skills involved in MI

  • Gain insight into how MI can be applied in various settings.

Description: Introductory training will provide a foundational understanding of MI - a person-centered, evidence-based approach designed to enhance motivation and commitment to change.​ In this workshop participants will​:

  • Explore the foundational principles of MI, including partnership, acceptance, compassion, and empowerment​

  • Learn core MI skills to support behavior change​

  • Learn practical ways to apply MI in direct service and supervisory roles​

  • Have opportunities to practice and build confidence using MI tools

CEUs: NYSED CEUs are provided by the UB School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education. 6 live online contact hours are approved for LMSW/LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAT, and PSY. Full attendance is required; no partial credit will be awarded for partial attendance.

Please Note: Attendance and Participation is required in all 4 sessions.
